What do you get when cross a sophisticated ski resort with fly rods and shotguns? You get HomeWaters in Vail, Colorado.

Over the last few decades, Vail has grown from a small ski town to a sophisticated mountain resort with all the trappings of a big city….upscale restaurants, massive hotels, expansive spas, world-class shopping, frequent black-tie affairs, endless fundraiser events, demand for tee times, ever-increasing tourist traffic coupled with lack of parking space.

To make matters worse, commercial and residential development now sprawls down valley for more than ten miles from Vail Village along the I-70 corridor. Unfortunately, Vail is not alone. It has become nearly impossible to escape the hectic pace of life in almost every popular ski community on the planet.

For those who like to flyfish and shoot in a private mountain setting, the opportunities are disappearing at an alarming rate. The public rivers and lands are getting more and more crowded and unless you know someone who owns a private ranch (or own one yourself), your sporting opportunities are limited at best.

Our family has been going to Vail since the 1970s. Over the years, I grew increasingly concerned about finding quality shooting and fishing venues for my kids, friends and colleagues. Since I prefer these activities over skiing and golf, I set out to see if I could build relationships with private landowners and secure private fishing and shooting access.

In 2006, we purchased Gorsuch Outfitters, the premier flyfishing outfitter in the Vail Valley. In addition to a top-notch guide staff and a full-line retail store, we were also introduced to a handful of private ranch owners who allowed us limited exclusive flyfishing access to their streams and rivers.

Over the past five years, we’ve expanded our relationships with private landowners. Today, our members and guests enjoy private access to nearly 20 miles of blue-ribbon waters on the Eagle, Colorado & Yampa Rivers as well as pristine Lake Creek, Sweetwater Creek and Troublesome Creek.….all located 20 to 60 minutes from the Vail Valley.

We also operate the world-class Piney Valley Sporting Clay Shooting and Upland Bird Hunting on a 30,000 private ranch just 20 minutes out of the Vail Valley. Many of our members and guests enjoy days of “blast & cast” (shooting for a half-day and flyfishing the other half).

We have set up an exclusive relationship with the world-famous Sonnenalp in Vail to serve our members with world-class lodging, food and spa services. Our members enjoy a dedicated reservation specialist, ski mountain valet services, access to the private Sonnenalp Golf Club and full concierge services while visiting Vail.   Located in the heart of Vail Village, Sonnenalp offers old-world charm to our world-class flyfishing and shooting nearby.

As a member of HomeWaters Club, you will easily escape the hustle and bustle of Vail, enjoy God’s Great Outdoors and feel like you have been transported a million miles away.....with just a short drive.
