Destination M: A Unique Choice in Luxury Travel Celebrates 20 Years in 2026
As the only Canadian-based destination club, Destination M holds a unique and appealing position for luxury travelers seeking hassle-free, vacation home ownership. Next year marks a significant milestone - the club's 20th anniversary - celebrating two decades of providing its members with access to a growing portfolio of multi-million dollar residences around the world.
A Portfolio on the Rise
Destination M has demonstrated a strong commitment to enhancing its member experience through recent significant expansion. The club currently boasts a portfolio of 40 homes and partner properties across more than 30 sought-after global locations, including major additions in the past year.
In a recent notable expansion, Destination M added four new homes, including residences in Canmore, Alberta; Rancho Mirage, California; San Diego/Mission Beach, California; and a charming villa in Tuscany, Italy. These acquisitions have significantly increased the club's owned/operated homes to 23, underscoring the focus on diversifying its offerings across mountains, beaches, and world-class cities to meet the varied desires of its membership. This strategic growth is deliberately controlled to maintain a low member-to-property ratio, ensuring excellent availability for all shareholders.
Destination M is committed to excellence, including renovating 1-2 homes on an as-needed basis as part of a long-term plan. The club has completed the refurbishment of the Mission Beach 2-bedroom, 3-bathroom condo, which features two oceanfront patios with breathtaking views (see image below). Additionally, their Paradise Valley home has just undergone an extensive renovation.

A Structure Built for Longevity
What truly sets Destination M apart is its innovative and sustainable structure. Utilizing the operating guidelines of a not-for-profit model, the club is fundamentally driven by member value rather than external profit motives. Potential members first join a waitlist, so they can sample the club before fully committing themselves to join.
No End Date
Destination M's core structure is built on a no-end date model. This means the real estate portfolio is member-owned with a long-term horizon, avoiding the typical end clause found in many other equity destination clubs – or to put it another way, it is an evergreen fund. This commitment to longevity positions membership as a potential legacy asset for families, providing a stable platform for growth and a promise of perpetual access to luxury travel.

Clear Member Exit Strategies
While built for the long term, the club is transparent about providing members with clear paths for exiting their investment if circumstances change. Shareholders have three primary options for liquidity:
- Private Sale: Members are able to sell their shares privately at any time to a new, qualified buyer.
- Destination M also has a private members’ sale every 3 years. Participants must be on the waitlist to buy through the auction.
- Sunset Clause: Every ten years the club offers to buy back shares from members, if they haven’t used one of the other mechanisms to exit.
This combination of long-term sustainability and flexible liquidity options creates a unique and robust investment proposition for the discerning traveler.
Destination M, in its 20th year, stands as a testament to the success of its member-centric approach to luxury destination club travel, offering an exclusive and growing escape for its shareholders.
