Destination clubs provide their members with access to multiple luxury vacation homes, located all over the world. The homes are typically multi-million dollar residences, and are sited in major cities, at beaches, in mountains and leisure locations.

Membership of the clubs is an alternative to buying a second home. The clubs are sometimes also compared to, or even mixed up with, private residence clubs, but there are several key differences between the two.

We've heard that Yellowstone Club World is not currently soliciting new members.

Destination clubs are sprouting up all over the world. Southern Africa is no longer exempt from this trend in high-end luxury vacations. Dream Circle Destinations, headquartered in South Africa, is a new shared ownership destination club promising members a return on investment after a 12 year run.

SherpaReport recently spoke to Ben Addoms, Founder and Executive Vice President, of Quintess about the destination clubs growth, its new home developments and results from the recent member survey.

A High Country Club member recently sent us a review of the clubs Maui home. This 1,700 word report covers all aspects of the home, including the location, the residence, the decor and the amenities.

Exclusive Resorts, the largest luxury destination club, has expanded its "Once in a Lifetime" program, now providing members with a total of 16 planned vacations in exclusive locations. Members can travel to 25 countries on 6 continents, including Fiji, Bhutan, Argentina and the Galapagos Islands.

Private Escapes just announced Coach George Karl of the Denver Nuggets as the newest member of Private Escapes Platinum Destination Club. According to the press release, Karl joined the growing destination club with his family to enjoy the attractive size of the homes, and the ability to share with business partners, other team coaches and family members.

Destination clubs have been increasing in visibity over the past few years. They provide a good alternative to luxury vacation homes, in fact some destination club owners have sold their second homes when they join a club. But, there are pros and cons on both sides. Carefree Group, Inc. responds to its Carefree Lifestyle clientele by forming and launching Carefree Elite, a new destination club, in December 2007. "What sets Carefree Elite apart is that it's not a destination club. It's a lifestyle in itself," says Membership Director, Brian Spicciatie.
