NetJets Takes Delivery of First Bombardier Global 8000

Bombardier has celebrated the delivery of the first Global 8000 ultra-long-range jet to fleet launch customer NetJets. The delivery took place at Bombardier’s Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre in Montreal.

Bombardier’s Global 8000 is the fastest civil aircraft since the Concorde, with an industry-leading top speed of Mach 0.95 (627 miles per hour), an ultra-high speed cruise of Mach 0.92, a range of 8,000 nautical miles (16.75 hours), and the lowest cabin altitude in business aviation production of just 2,691 ft. This range enables nonstop travel between more city pairs than ever before, such as nonstop from San Francisco, California, to Sydney, Australia.

Note, during test flights, Bombardier flew the aircraft at supersonic speeds, so above Mach 1.

In addition to its long-range capabilities, the aircraft remains very agile, with good takeoff and landing performance comparable to a smaller jet.

Inside, the Global 8000 sets an extremely high bar for luxury and comfort. The cabin has four distinct zones, including a private stateroom with a permanent bed, and both innovative circadian lighting and air-purification systems that help combat jet lag, ensuring passengers arrive at their destinations rested and refreshed.

NetJets Plans

With this most recent addition, NetJets plans to build a 24-strong fleet of Global 8000 aircraft and will be working with Bombardier to upgrade its entire in-service Global 7500 fleet to Global 8000 jets. NetJets could subsequently grow its fleet through a series of options that could be exercised progressively over the coming years, after placing its initial order for the Global 8000 in 2022.
