# Flyte: A Focused Regional Vision Jet Operator

Nick Copley 27 August 2026 Last Updated: 27 August 2026

Flyte is a regional private aviation operator built around the Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet, targeting missions up to the 400–500 nautical mile range and flight times of roughly one to one-and-a-half hours. The two initial operating areas are in the Northeast US and Florida and the Southeast.

The company has historically focused on wholesale flying - providing lift to other operators and partners - but is now transitioning into and expanding its retail offering directly to end clients. SherpaReport spoke with Flyte's Founder and CEO, Marc Sellouk.

**The Cirrus Vision Jet: Features and Performance**

At the heart of Flyte’s model is the Cirrus Vision Jet SF0, a single-engine, very light jet positioned as a step up from high-performance pistons and turboprops, particularly for regional missions. The SF50 has been very popular since its launch in 2016, with well over 700 units sold in total, including 105 sold in 2025.

Part of the appeal is the unique safety features, including the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS), a whole-aircraft parachute. It is designed to safely lower the aircraft and its passengers to the ground in an emergency situation, and every Cirrus aircraft includes CAPS as standard equipment.

In addition, the Safe Return Emergency Autoland system can be activated by simply pressing a red button if the pilot is incapacitated. The advanced autonomous system takes control of the aircraft, communicates with air traffic control, and guides it to a safe landing at the nearest suitable airport. With these enhanced safety systems, Flyte operates most of its flights with one pilot.

In terms of other specs for the SF50, the maximum range is 1,275nm, a takeoff distance of 1,910 ft (making smaller airports very accessible) and Flyte says their cabins have seating for 4 adults, 2 children and a puppy, and 300lbs of luggage capacity.

Flyte acquired its first Vision Jets in 2023 and now has 5, with plans to add more, potentially reaching 15 by the end of 2027, but Marc notes that he’s “very picky on the aircraft we buy.”

**Operations and Service Area**

Flyte’s operations are anchored in two regions:

- Northeast U.S., centered around Islip and Farmingdale, New York
- Southeast U.S., centered on Ft Lauderdale Executive Airport in Florida

The current fleet of five Vision Jets is split between these two locations, with some seasonal movement between the two. At the time of the conversation, 4 aircraft were in the Northeast, and 1 was in the Southeast.

A key element of Flyte’s model is its service area definition, with most trips being under 300nm, and common routes including flights to Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, the Hamptons, Vermont, and to Boston and Washington DC. Marc Sellouk noted that the company would turn down flights over 500nm if they took the aircraft outside these regional areas. ![Marc Sellouk](https://www.sherpareport.com/images/stories/planes/Marc_Sellouk_headshot-375.jpg "Marc Sellouk")

The aircraft may not always return to base each night - the model allows some floating - but the framework is still regional rather than national or transcontinental coverage.

**Charter and Fixed-Price Flights**

For many popular routes, including the ones mentioned above, [Flyte](https://www.flyflyte.com/) has developed fixed-price offerings, providing clarity and predictability for customers. Some examples include:

- NYC (TEB) to Boston (BED) – $4,900 one way, $8,900 round trip.
- NYC (TEB) to Nantucket (ACK) – $4,900 one way, $8,900 round trip.
- Cape Cod (HYA) to Portland (PWM) – $7,400 one way, $14,800 round trip.
- Westchester (HPN) to Saratoga Springs (5B2) – $4,900 one way, $8,900 round trip.
- East Hampton (JPX) to Martha's Vineyard (MVY) – $4,900 one way, $8,900 round trip.

Or Flyte will custom quote charter flights to any appropriate airport within its service areas.

**Market Context**

The Vision Jet certainly has favorable operating economics compared to larger light jets, and the tight regional focus will help with the overall Flyte business.

But there’s competition from established operators, such as Tradewind and PlaneSense, who both fly the Pilatus PC-12 turboprop, which is good for the sort of short-distance missions that the Vision Jet flies.

[Vision Jet operator Verijet](https://www.sherpareport.com/aircraft/richard-kane-verijet.html) was also trying to create a broadly similar service, albeit at lower price points, until it filed for bankruptcy in 2025 – suggesting its lower price points were simply not a good economic model.
