Flexjet Secures $800 Million Equity Investment Linked to LVMH
One of the leaders in fractional jets, Flexjet, has announced the closing of an $800 million equity investment from a consortium led by consumer-focused investment firm L Catterton, with additional participation from KSL Capital Partners and the J. Safra Group. The transaction, described as the largest equity investment ever committed to a private jet travel provider, positions Flexjet to further develop its infrastructure and expand its presence in the luxury travel sector.
Investment Plans
The new investment is intended to support Flexjet’s ongoing strategy to augment its fleet, enhance its service delivery systems, and offer a more tailored experience to its client base. The company has emphasized growing demand for larger aircraft and longer-range international flights, alongside expanding access to private terminals and high-end travel experiences.
Specifically, a Flexjet spokesperson told SherpaReport, “Three areas will be bolstered: infrastructure such as branded private terminals, growing our fleet, including our ultra-long-range aircraft, and Flexjet-branded experiences like our Chairman's Club events, which get fully booked within 24 hours of us announcing it to our top aircraft Owners.”
Founded in 1995, Flexjet operates a global private aviation business offering fractional jet ownership and jet leasing. The fleet includes Embraer Phenom 300, Praetor 500/600, Bombardier Challenger 350/3500, and Gulfstream G450 and G650, with helicopter operations offered on the Sikorsky S-76 in the U.S. and Europe.

The company's recent expansion efforts include its in-house maintenance and product support network, a growing number of private terminals (with 11 operating or in development), and dedicated training through its Cabin Attendant Academy. A private terminal at London Farnborough is expected to open in early 2026. Just two years ago, in 2023, the company opened its purpose-built HQ and Global Operations Control Center. The investment will also support Flexjet’s partnerships with other luxury brands - such as the recently announced Riva Yachts and Bentley Motors relationships - aimed at offering exclusive lifestyle experiences to aircraft owners.
L Catterton brings sector experience as a private equity firm affiliated with LVMH, with a focus on high-end consumer brands. The firm views the deal as an opportunity to collaborate on brand strategy, consumer insights, and product development. “Flexjet epitomizes our category-first approach,” said Scott Dahnke, Global CEO of L Catterton. “Their history is one of never settling in pursuit of thoughtful innovation.”
“L Catterton, with its special relationship with LVMH and its family of brands, provides the perfect opportunity for collaborating in areas such as consumer insights, brand strategies, retail expansion, and luxury product delivery,” commented Kenn Ricci, Flexjet’s Chairman.
Flexjet’s leadership, including Chairman Kenn Ricci, will remain in place following the investment, which does not shift control of the company. The addition of strategic partners such as L Catterton, KSL, and the J. Safra Group is expected to accelerate Flexjet’s evolution into a vertically integrated provider of high-end aviation services and a broader portfolio of luxury travel offerings.
Advisors on the transaction included Jefferies, Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, and Goldman Sachs. The $800m investment is for a 20% stake and values Flexjet at $4bn.
This investment follows a series of high-profile moves by private aviation firms to secure capital amid ongoing demand for more personalized, flexible private travel solutions. Notably, some private aviation firms have gone public via SPAC deals in recent years. The size and structure of the Flexjet transaction mark a notable development in the sector's evolution, particularly as it becomes more deeply intertwined with global luxury markets.
Flexjet had considered going public via a SPAC deal back in 2022, but reversed this decision just a few months later. This looks like a wise move in hindsight, and the new investment potentially provides partners who are aligned with a broader, bold vision, particularly given the relationship with LVMH, the world's largest company in the luxury goods industry.
