The Guide to Shared Luxury Property

A Fractional Home at the Winter Olympics

Evolution at Whistler has announced new lower pricing to provide Whistler enthusiasts with the most attractive opportunity yet to purchase prime ski-in ski-out real estate at Whistler Creekside. Evolution's fully furnished two-bedroom resort homes now start at $144,900 per quarter interest.

Whistler is the alpine skiing venue for the upcoming 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The entire Whistler Creekside base village will be transformed to accommodate athletes and spectators attending the alpine skiing events on Whistler Mountain. "The positive impact that the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will have on Whistler cannot be underestimated," said Stephen Fina, senior vice-president, Playground Destination Properties, developers of Evolution.

The homes have European inspired kitchens, large outdoor decks, and some with indoor / outdoor fireplaces. Evolution provides convenient ski-in ski-out access to the mountains via the Creekside Gondola and is a pet-friendly property with a Pet Welcome Program and a dedicated pet cleaning area.

Evolution features numerous building amenities, including outdoor sauna and eucalyptus steam room, one pool and two large outdoor hot tubs, outdoor patio and BBQ area, exercise facility with cardio equipment, weights, and a pilates / yoga area, sun terrace adjacent to the exercise room, two levels of secure underground parking, owners in-suite storage and convenient bike and ski storage. Owner benefits also include the Resort-to-Resort Fractional Exchange Program and day-trip usage of resort amenities during non-stay times (as available).

Prior to the recent price adjustments, Whistler's Evolution pricing began around $229,900, so the potential savings are pretty dramatic. Our guess is that this partly reflects the economy and partly reflects the desire of Playground to sell all their fractions while the buzz of the Olympics is in the air around Whistler. Either way it sounds like a pretty good deal. What's more there is a try before you buy program on offer - but you probably won't be able to try from February 12th to 28th when the Olympics are in full swing.

Another fractional property in Whistler is the Fairmont Heritage Place private residence club. Located alongside the World Cup Dave Murray Downhill on Whistler Mountain, the 1/10 shares in the 3 to 4 bedroom club homes start at about $200,000.
